Encounters Canada

Encounters with Canada gives 3,000 young Canadians aged 14 to 17 the opportunity to gain a better understanding of Canada. The program consists of a series of week-long workshops offered over a 26-week period. The program, held at the Terry Fox Canadian Youth Centre in Ottawa, is divided into two parts. The first part is focused on Canadian institutions and includes a visit to Parliament Hill and the Senate, as well as a guided tour of the National Capital Region. The second part is organized around one of 11 sub-themes and provides students with "hands-on" experiences through participation in group discussions and simulations, audio-visual presentations and theme-related visits and tours.

The Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation provides students with opportunities to pursue the post-secondary education they need to prepare themselves for the future.

Eligibility

Must be entering the first year of a full-time undergraduate post-secondary program in 2007-2008 that is recognized by the provincial student loan program and will lead to a degree, diploma or certificate.

Applications are available for the TD Canada Trust Scholarship for Community Leadership.

Eligibility
Scholarships are open to students across Canada who:

Are in their final year of high school, or CEGEP (in Quebec)
Have demonstrated outstanding community leadership
Present a minimum average of 75%
Doing good for others during difficult times in one's own life requires particularly outstanding commitment. This is why, as part of the selection process, the personal circumstances and/or challenges of each applicant will be considered.

Requirements

An essay detailing community leadership,
Three letters confirming community leadership,
A letter of recommendation from the school,
An essay detailing you family or personal circumstances.

Tutoring for Tuition 2006-2007

Riverwood is now accepting applications from senior high students for the annual Tutoring for Tuition Program. Tutors will be paid with a tuition voucher at the end of the end of the school year.
